In the Chronicle of Higher Education it was reported in February that one university is helping students with education costs. The University of New Hampshire offers first and second year students a full curriculum of introductory courses at their satellite campus in Salem, NH. Of course, the classes are offered in a down-scaled office park, but students save 40% of the cost of the main campus education and still earn enough credits to move to the main campus after their two years at Salem.

The Pennsylvania State Board of Education is using this model in considering a proposal to develop their own four-year cut-rate college. It will lack dorms and sports teams, but it will be affordable education.

Should we have more of these educational opportunities? YES!
