More and more students are applying to college! The increase in senior applications to post-secondary schools is rising due to several factors. The first is that the children of the largest population balloon in U.S. history, the baby Boomers, are reaching the end of their high school years. Second, as competition rises, more seniors are applying to more schools, the average number of applications now reaching seven. Third in today’s more competitive economy, a college education is more desirable. And last, although more colleges are being created, the number of classes in colleges is not increasing at the same rate as applicants are increasing.

All this means senior college applicants must find ways to grab attention. We suggest you go to the College Basics section on How to Stand Out from Others and read our five articles suggesting several ways you can become a more interesting applicant.
