You may think the application process is over, but, alas, it is not. You must now turn your attention to applying for scholarships and financial aid. We at College Basics highly recommend that you remain diligent in applying for monies for your education. Don’t stop at looking for financial assistance through grants and loans. There are lots of scholarships out there, and you should be investigating them.

College Basics also strongly suggests that you apply to scholarships that require writing an essay. Wait! You’re too busy! You’ve had it with writing college applications essays!

Think about it. Fewer students will apply for scholarships that require an essay for the same reasons you have just offered up, so you will be in a better spot competitively. Also, you have written those college application essays, and they can be easily turned into essays for the scholarships. You are half done.

Also check out CollegeBasics’ new e-book The Basics for Writing College Application Essays: Simple How-to Steps for Writing All College Essays from the Personal Statement to the Short Activity Essay, a great resource for writing an essay for a scholarship and for an example of a scholarship essay.

Fastweb is a great clearinghouse for scholarships.  If you haven’t signed up yet, now is the time.  And, look at College Basic’s Scholarship Resources that are organized by deadline. Good luck and keep going.
