4 Reasons Why You Should Consider A Career In Marketing

Written by CB Community

If you are someone who is interested in a career in business but you are more creative than the average entrepreneur, you might consider a career in marketing.

Marketing is what companies or organizations use to get businesses and consumers to buy certain products.

However, people that work in marketing know that there is often more than this involved for those who want to pursue a career in this field, which is why you might consider a career in marketing.

1. There Are Lots of Sub-Niches

Because marketing encompasses so many different things in different contexts, there are many sub-niches in the sphere of marketing as a career.

For example, if you are interested in IT, you could consider a career in SEO (search engine optimization), which is a subsection of digital marketing, whereas other people may consider a career in market research because they are interested in data analysis.

You could also say that marketing is an industry that is ever-changing and there are always new subsections in the industry that are being created.

Even in the last decade or so, there have been new sub-niches that have developed out of the marketing sphere like digital marketing, social media marketing and influencer marketing, which never existed before.

So even if you start out in brand management, you may make a change to a different sub-section as your career progresses, which is great for young people who are not sure about what they want to do with their lives.

2. There is a Range of Jobs

If you are going to start a career in marketing, you should be comfortable for the rest of your life because there are many jobs in this field.

Even in each sub-section of the marketing sphere, there are several different jobs that you can do throughout your career.

Start out as an assistant and make your way up to a specialist or an executive in your sub-niche, learning more and more as you go.

It is also important to note that these days almost every big company or organization will have a marketing team of some sort, which means that there are lots of jobs out there for people who have the right training, skills and experience in the marketing field.

So even if you are finding it hard to get work at the moment, your luck should change soon enough if you have experience in marketing.

3. The Ability to Create

In some jobs, there is no room for creativity, but if you work in marketing you get the perfect mix of being serious and learning about business and being creative as well.

Marketers need to think about the most inventive strategies that they can to sell their products, so there is a lot of room for creative thinking.

It has been said in the New York Times that marketing is “the art of telling stories so enthralling that people lose track of their wallets”, so you need to be creative in order to get people to buy things.

You may also need to be creative if you work in certain sub-niches or if you are creating content to attract customers and clients, so if you are a creative thinker, you might like to work in marketing

4. There Are Opportunities for Growth

If you work in the marketing industry, you will find that there are always opportunities for growth so that you can go further in your career.

Most people who want to work in marketing will usually start with a degree in marketing to learn everything that they need to know, and then keep going from there, but this is not the only way to get into marketing.

You may want to start with a Certificate IV or a Diploma to see if you are interested in learning more about marketing and then go on to do a degree after that. Or you might just want to start as an intern at a big company to gain experience, and then study later on.

Whatever you want to do, the decision is yours, which is not always available to you if you were to work in another field.

There are a number of online marketing courses available for those who wish to kickstart their marketing career or for those who want to learn more about the field that they are in.

So if you want a job where you can learn more as you grow in your career, you should start a career in marketing.
